Alabama vs. South Carolina
If you’re a college football fan then you heard the news with all the rest of us. Alabama’s 19 game winning streak was struck down by South Carolina. In the world of team sports the news of Alabama’s defeat was loudly heralded across the airwaves in the newsprint. The mighty one had fallen!
Well, you know what they say – All good things must come to an end.
So – how did you react when Alabama lost? If you were a ‘bama fan then you most certainly did not laugh and jump for joy. Chance are you cried.
Or swore.
Or hit someone in the face in Road Rage (yes, that really happened! See the news story for yourself.
Coach Saban had this to say about his team’s poor performance: “It’s not like we just lost. They beat us. They outexecuted us. They played better than we played. They played with more intensity. They played physical.”
No one from Alabama’s perspective was happy. “We haven’t had this feeling in a long time and we don’t want it again,” Alabama linebacker Dont’a Hightower said.
On the other hand, the South Carolina players and fans were jumping for joy and dancing in the street. The mighty one had fallen and they were the victors. No Road Rage here. No anger. No surprised, long faces.
The winner takes the spoil – and they WON.

Emotions in team sports is always evident in winners and loser. If you don’t show it then you’re not really a fan or one of the team. You may not jump and dance but the happiness on your face and in your tone of voice will be evident to all. Like Coach Spurrier.
